Damian Charleson, a volunteer for Camp Quality and proprietor of Jayco Newcastle has been named as the inaugural recipient of the Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation Chairman's Medal.
The Chairman's Medal, created to honour the late Michael Slater who was both Chairman of the Newcastle Permanent Building Society and the Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation for almost 10 years, recognises the achievements and contribution of an outstanding individual volunteer and the impact volunteers make to our community.Damian has been recognised for his considerable fundraising and volunteering efforts. He has raised more than $100,000 for children impacted by cancer and has been involved in the development of new fundraising events for Camp Quality including an annual corporate golf day and the Moto Cyc events.
Getting active in our local community
The team at Jayco Newcastle, along with owner, Damian Charleson, are active members of the local community and always try to assist in providing sponsorship, fundraising and donations to help those in need around our local area.
Most recently the team have pulled together as the Major Sponsor of the 2018 Camp Quality Moto Cyc Event. Together with Camp Quality Newcastle, 36 amazing individuals covered over 1600kms and raised an incrediable $73,106.55 Recently we have also assisted several local charity events by donating caravan hire & park experiences which includes 5 nights at BIG4 Karuah Jetty for a family of up to four in a Caravan Adventures Hire caravan.
In 2017 we were also a major supporter of the Camp Quality 2017 Golf Day where we assisted in raising over $23,000 for kids with cancer in the Hunter.
Jayco Newcastle Owner Damian Charleson is a great role model for the whole business in promoting community involvement, demonstrated through his ongoing and avid support for Camp Quality for many years. Damian has taken part in the 1000ks for Kids ride for many years and has now turned his hand to the motorised kind taking part in the third Moto Cyc Event in March 2018."What a great cause helping to raise funds for kids with cancer. I have been involved in the 1000km ride for kids on my push bike for a number of years. As a sideline I decided to see if we could do a motorised version, save the legs and have fun,” he says.
We are also very supportive of our local sporting teams and are currently sponsoring the Cardiff Hawks Australian Football Club, helping out with raffle prizes, donations for equipment, covering costs for food and drinks at events and more.
Jayco Newcastle is also an avid supporter of the Hunter Prostate Cancer Alliance as well as other community fundraisers.

Jayco is proud to directly sponsor the following charities
· · ·
Love Your Sister
What would you do if your sister were terminally ill? Samuel Johnson’s sister Connie is
fighting Breast Cancer so he set out on an epic challenge – to ride around Australia on
a unicycle and raise money for breast cancer research. Jayco was proud to supply Samuel
with an Expanda for accommodation wherever his route takes him.
Lisa Curry's One Life One Chance Aussie Roadtrip
Obesity is the biggest threat to public health in Australia and the leading cause of premature death and illness.
Lisa Curry and her One Life, Once Chance Aussie Roadtrip visit regional and rural Australia to talk to locals about obesity, and to
work with Lisa personally on this issue. We provided Lisa with a Jayco Motorhome and Base Station to help with her trip.
Tour De Crawf
Shane Crawford, legendary Brownlow medallist, raised more than $1.32 million through his Tour de Crawf ride from Melbourne to
Perth to raise funds and awareness for the Breast Cancer Network Australia. The 3,600 kilometre ride was a gruelling 22-day
marathon in which Shane averaged 170 kilometres a day. We gave Shane and his crew a Motorhome for transport and accommodation
during the evenings.
