Getting active in our local community

The team at Jayco Newcastle, along with owner, Damian Charleson, are active members of the local community and always try to assist in providing sponsorship, fundraising and donations to help those in need around our local area.

Most recently the team have pulled together as the Major Sponsor of the 2017 Camp Quality Moto Cyc Event. So far we have exceeded our goal of $8,000, raising $11,618.95 at our 3 day Expo this year. Other fundraising activities has the current amount raised as $12,249.25 which is an awesome achievement.

We have also assisted by donating a week away in a used caravan as an auction prize for both the Amelia Tull Charity Fundraiser Benefit Night and the Craig Middleton Fundraiser Night, fantastic fundraisers supporting two amazing members of our local community.

When Damian heard about the fundraising night for Amelia and the reason for it, it really struck a chord as her father, Senior Constable Aaron Tull, had recently assisted us in recovering two camper trailers that had been stolen from our Service Department. Unfortunately Amelia had been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and the benefit night was organised to raise donations to allow Amelia’s family to concentrate solely on her recovery. The night was very successful and we are so happy to have been involved and to be able to assist to help this lovely family.

We were also a major supporter of the Camp quality 2016 Golf Day where we assisted in raising over $19,000 for kids with cancer in the Hunter.

We are also very supportive of our local sporting teams and are currently sponsoring the Cardiff Hawks Australian Football Club, helping out with raffle prizes, donations for equipment, covering costs for food and drinks at events and more.

Jayco Newcastle Owner Damian Charleson is a great role model for the whole business in promoting community involvement, demonstrated through his ongoing and avid support for Camp Quality for many years. Damian has taken part in the 1000ks for Kids ride for many years and has now turned his hand to the motorised kind as he plans to take part in the seconda Moto Cyc Event in March 2017.

"What a great cause helping to raise funds for kids with cancer. I have been involved in the 1000km ride for kids on my push bike and lining up for my fifth go. As a sideline I decided to see if we could do a motorised version, save the legs and have fun,” he says.

In 2016 Damian and the 1000ks for kids team managed to raise over $400,000 for Hunter kids with cancer.

Jayco was proud to supply Samuel with an Expanda for accommodation wherever his route takes him.

Lisa Curry's One Life One Chance Aussie Roadtrip

Obesity is the biggest threat to public health in Australia and the leading cause of premature death and illness. Lisa Curry and her One Life, Once Chance Aussie Roadtrip visit regional and rural Australia to talk to locals about obesity, and to work with Lisa personally on this issue. We provided Lisa with a Jayco Motorhome and Base Station to help with her trip.

Tour De Crawf

Shane Crawford, legendary Brownlow medallist, raised more than $1.32 million through his Tour de Crawf ride from Melbourne to Perth to raise funds and awareness for the Breast Cancer Network Australia. The 3,600 kilometre ride was a gruelling 22-day marathon in which Shane averaged 170 kilometres a day. We gave Shane and his crew a Motorhome for transport and accommodation during the evenings.
